Our Team

Eva is a senior lawyer and experienced director.  She is a Partner at Jackson McDonald specialising in commercial dispute resolution across diverse sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne.

Eva brings more than a decade of governance experience including holding board positions with Communicare Inc and SPACED (formerly IASKA).  She also serves on the board of Jackson McDonald.

“Young people can only be empowered when they feel safe. My commitment to safeguarding children and young people is a commitment to prioritise, assess on an ongoing basis, listen to feedback on, and continually improve frameworks for, safety in the Y.” 

Tegan is a lawyer at Legal Aid and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Western Australia.

She currently serves as Chair of the Education Regulatory Compliance Committee at the Y WA and is also the Safeguarding Board Sponsor, responsible for advocating for safeguarding across the organisation and ensuring that safeguarding is considered in all Board decisions.

As a former Y team member and service user, Tegan brings lived experience that provides valuable insight and a fresh perspective to the Board’s decision-making.

“Providing a safe and supportive environment for children and young people is imperative in ensuring that the power of inspired young people can be promoted, and flourish. I’m committed to ensuring that all levels of the Y WA, including the Board, uphold the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework and that this vision flows through all limbs of the organisation.”

Kendal is the Regional Financial Controller at Multiplex, where she oversees financial operations in Western Australia for large-scale, high-value projects.

Her career includes senior roles with PwC in London, Paris, Belfast, and Hong Kong, providing her with extensive international experience in financial management and commercial strategy.

Known for her ability to deliver results and guide complex projects with precision, Kendal brings a proven track record of leadership and expertise.

She served as a Director of Y Australia for seven years before retiring from that role in 2025.

“It is my responsibility, as with everyone involved and connected to the Y movement, to uphold the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. I will incorporate the requirement for safety in my assessment of reports issued to the Y WA Board and decisions made by the Y WA Board so that a culture of safety underpins all that we do.”

Samantha is Partner and Managing Director of TBB Planning, bringing more than 30 years’ experience in urban planning, governance and policy reform. She has contributed to some of Western Australia’s most significant place-making initiatives, including Liveable Neighbourhoods and the Mandurah Ocean Marina, helping to shape communities that are safe, inclusive and connected.

Through senior leadership roles, industry committees and government advocacy, Samantha has influenced planning reform across WA. She brings strong strategic and governance capability to the Y WA Board, alongside a deep commitment to creating environments where young people can thrive.

Samantha is passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential.

“Safety should be a given, not a privilege. I am committed to helping Y WA shape a future where every young person feels safe, supported and able to thrive.”  

Bruce is the Managing Director and owner of property and investment consultancy Porter Commercial and has over 30 years of experience as a licensed real estate valuer and property agent.

As the Y WA Board’s longest-serving member, he has been involved with the Y for most of his life and is an Honorary Life Member.

“I have championed the development and safeguarding of children all my life: in my family, in the community, in sport and recreation, and through my Directorship with Y WA. Our children are precious and must be allowed to develop in a safe and rewarding community environment.”    

Jacinda is the General Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance at a major energy provider, with more than two decades of experience in governance, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Together with the Y WA, she serves on boards and advisory committees focussed on youth and community sport where she brings strategic insight to regulatory challenges, and advocates for creating safe and inclusive spaces where young people can flourish.

James is the Office Managing Partner at BDO Perth, and a Corporate and International Tax Partner with over 23 years’ experience.

He is recognised for simplifying complexity, fostering collaboration, and guiding organisations through growth and change.

As a senior values-driven leader, his commitment to integrity and inclusion aligns strongly with the Y’s purpose to empower young people and communities to flourish.

Penelope is a Partner at Vialto Partners with over 25 years of experience in professional services, including serving as a Partner at PwC.

She specialises in helping companies manage the complexities of moving employees across borders and has worked in London, India, the USA, and Australia.

A Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Tax Institute, Penelope is recognised for driving strategy and leading complex projects and change initiatives.

In 2025, she was elected to the Y Australia Board.

With 40 years of experience in education leadership, Margaret has served as an Executive Director, Director, and Principal within the Western Australian Department of Education.

She brings strong governance experience and a deep understanding of education policy development to the Y WA Board.

Her particular interest lies in Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education (CARE) school programs for students facing challenges, ensuring inclusive and supportive learning environments.

“The safety, education and empowerment of young people has been central to my work in education. I’m committed to ensuring safeguarding children is paramount in the Y WA’s strategic and operational planning.”

Tim believes in equity, using evidence to guide decisions, and creating environments where children, young people, and communities can flourish, and this is why Tim joined the Y WA.

Passionate about creating meaningful and lasting change, Tim joined the Y in 2021 to make it easier for young people and communities to access the support they need, championing simpler and more connected systems.

For Tim, the greatest privilege of working at the Y is having the opportunity to work with others to make a difference – empowering our people, delivering programs that change lives, and building a future that reflects the heart of the Y.

Driven to make a real difference for young people and their communities, David joined the Y WA in 2023 to create lasting change and improve lives every day.

He’s an experienced senior leader with expertise in finance and operations, having worked in CFO and COO roles. Today, he leads the Y’s financial strategy and drives efforts to optimise systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and reduce risk.

For David, what makes this work special is the opportunity to combine strategic and operational expertise with a purpose that matters – supporting children and young people to flourish.

Allison joined the Y WA in 2022 with a commitment to developing workplaces where people can flourish.

She is a senior leader and human resources professional and drives our People and Culture strategy with purpose – building an inclusive workplace that empowers people to make a meaningful difference.

For Allison, what makes this work special is the unwavering focus on making a difference for children and young people. As Safeguarding Lead, she champions a culture where every child and young person in our services feels safe, and is safe, every day.

Driven by a belief that every young person deserves the chance to flourish, Grant brings extensive leadership experience to the Y WA. Since 2016, he has drawn on his expertise in customer service, strategy, and governance to create impact across the organisation.

He leads the Y’s Impact strategy and oversees Education, Youth, and Community portfolios, ensuring our purpose stays true to Y’s DNA – helping children and young people to flourish and grow in body, mind, and spirit.
