CENTRE PHILOSOPHY

At East Cannington ELC, we exist to create opportunities for children to flourish and grow in body, mind and spirit – building the foundations they need for school, for relationships and for life.

Our purpose is to ensure every child who learns with us develops the wellbeing, confidence and capabilities they need to flourish now and into the future.

DEVELOPING SCHOOL READINESS

We offer an evidence-based School ReadY program in our Kindy room. Designed for children ages 3 to 5, the program builds essential literacy, language, social-emotional, and numeracy skills, helping them flourish at school and in life. A Literacy Specialist partners with the team and provides regular coaching to strengthen delivery of the School ReadY program.

School ReadY: A specialised program in our Kindy rooms for children aged 3 to 5 that builds literacy, numeracy (STEM), and social-emotional skills, preparing them for school and life

Our routine is flexible with a mix of planned learning experiences and child-led activities. Here’s a guide to what a usual day looks like:

7:00-9:00am Gentle arrivals, bottles or breakfast, cosy play, and indoor/outdoor exploration
9:00-11:00am Sensory play and continued indoor/outdoor exploration
11:00am-2:00pm Lunch, bottles, restful nap time, and School ReadY Literacy and Language program in the Kindy room.
2:00-4:00pm Soft play and indoor/outdoor exploration
4:00-6:00pm Preparing for the end of the day, indoor/outdoor play, and family grouping
6:00pm Centre closes

Hi, I’m Jyoti Pandya, the Centre Director at East Cannington Early Learning Centre. I hold a Diploma in early childhood education, bringing over 10 years’ experience working in childcare with the Y WA. Together with my team, we aim to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where families feel supported, and children can flourish.

I really, really appreciate all the staff at our centre.

They know our boy so well and exactly how to communicate with him.
