CENTRE PHILOSOPHY

At Timber Tots ELC, we exist to create opportunities for children to flourish and grow in body, mind and spirit – building the foundations they need for school, for relationships and for life.

Our purpose is to ensure every child who learns with us develops the wellbeing, confidence and capabilities they need to flourish now and into the future.

DEVELOPING SCHOOL READINESS

We offer an evidence-based School ReadY program in our Kindy room. Designed for children ages 3 to 5, the program builds essential literacy, language, social-emotional, and numeracy skills, helping them flourish at school and in life. A Literacy Specialist partners with the team and provides regular coaching to strengthen delivery of the School ReadY program.

Wellbeing: We place a strong emphasis on social and emotional development, ensuring every child feels safe, secure, and supported as they grow into confident individuals
Play-based learning: We encourage children to follow their interests, build confidence, and develop essential life skills in a supportive and engaging environment
School ReadY: A specialised program in our Kindy rooms for children aged 3 to 5 that builds literacy, numeracy (STEM), and social-emotional skills, preparing them for school and life

DAILY ROUTINE

Our routine is flexible with a mix of planned learning experiences and child-led activities. Here’s a guide to what a usual day looks like:

7:30am Centre opens
8:00-8:15am Family grouping in the 0–2-year-old room (drop-off and settling in)
8:15-9:00am Children and educators move to allocated rooms for morning routines and play
9:00am Morning tea
9:30-11:00am Indoor and outdoor play with planned and spontaneous activities (including the School ReadY Literacy and Language program in the Kindy room)
11:00am Lunch
11:30am-2:00pm Room routines including play, sleep/rest, and nappies/toileting
2:00pm Afternoon tea
2:30-4:30pm Indoor and outdoor play with planned and spontaneous activities
4:30-5:30pm Family grouping as children are collected
6:00pm Centre closes

Hi, I’m Amanda Bennett, the Centre Director at Timber Tots Early Learning Centre. I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services and bring over 20 years of experience in childcare, including two years with the Y WA. I’m passionate about early education and childhood development, and committed to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for families in our beautiful community. Together with my all-star team, we nurture children to flourish and reach their full potential.

My eldest daughter has attended the Y[MCA] Timber Tots since she was about 8 months old.

The staff there go above and beyond to ensure our kids are looked after to the best that they can be.
