A Proud Moment for The Y WA: Dr Tim McDonald Launches New Book on Classroom Management
Today marked a proud moment for The Y WA, with our CEO, Dr Tim McDonald, launching ‘Classroom Management: The Foundation for Learning’ at Parliament House in Canberra.
The launch brought together policymakers, education leaders, teachers and researchers from across Australia to discuss a topic that sits at the heart of student success: creating learning environments where every young person can engage and participate.
For Tim, this work reflects a lifelong commitment to supporting children and young people. Drawing on decades of experience in education and leadership, the book is built on a simple but powerful idea: learning flourishes in classrooms that are calm, orderly and respectful.
Published by Oxford University Press Australia & New Zealand, Classroom Management: The Foundation for Learning provides practical, evidence-informed strategies to help educators teach behaviour, build positive classroom cultures and maximise learning opportunities for every student.
Importantly, the book draws on the expertise of teachers. The routines, strategies and tools it contains have been tested, adapted and refined in real Australian classrooms, making it a practical resource for educators and school leaders alike.
Congratulations, Tim, and thank you to everyone who helped make this feat possible.
