Program Overview

DRUMBEAT® is an evidence-based, up to 10-week youth program for upper primary school students ages 10 to 11 (Years 5 and 6). DRUMBEAT is a national and international program created by Holyoake.

Delivered by DRUMBEAT qualified youth workers, the program uses engaging drum rhythms, games and activities alongside guided discussions to explore key topics such as relationships, communication, identity, and respect.

DRUMBEAT is proudly funded by Communities for Children.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Participants will:

  • Play Djembe drums and mixed percussion
  • Take part in discussions on relationships, communication, identity, and respect
  • Receive a certificate of participation and a gift pack at completion of the program

WHAT TO BRING

  • Nothing! Just bring yourself and your enthusiasm
  • All drums, activities, and support are provided

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

  • The Y WA delivers the federally funded Communities for Children DRUMBEAT program in partnership with host organisations and schools in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, City of Armadale and City of Gosnells
  • Organisations and schools in these eligible areas can partner with us by downloading the program partnership overview and submitting an expression of interest (EOI) form
  • Once we receive your EOI, our team will contact you to discuss partnership requirements, arrange a service agreement, confirm logistics, and talk through group participant referrals and program evaluation
  • DRUMBEAT is not open to individual sign ups. If you’re a young person who wants to take part, ask your school or organisation to submit an EOI, or get in touch with us!
