Following our Inside Our Minds campaign during Mental Health Week (4-11 October), we have partnered with WhyNot to give young people a platform to share their Unfiltered Thoughts on facing the future.
The future can feel exciting, uncertain, overwhelming and full of possibility all at once. Many young people are navigating rising costs, housing pressures, study, work, social expectations and new technologies, all while trying to make sense of what comes next. This initiative invites them to talk about it in their own words.
How it works
The Unfiltered Thoughts prompt will run for six weeks. As young people submit their responses, WhyNot will publish new contributions on a rolling basis, creating an ongoing conversation connected to the Facing the Future theme and the broader Inside Our Minds campaign.
Submissions are 100 to 300 words, and every published Unfiltered Thought will receive $25 AUD. Young people can respond through written text, an image, a video or even an audio recording.
What we’re asking
Young people might like to reflect on:
- What is the biggest pressure you are facing right now?
- What worries you most about the future, and what gives you hope when things feel uncertain?
- What do older generations misunderstand about the pressures young people face today?
- What support, change or action would make the biggest difference to your future?
Young people can submit their Unfiltered Thoughts at whynot.org.au/unfiltered-thoughts.
Because the future is not just something young people inherit. It is something they are navigating every day.
